The Tortoise versus The Hare – An Original Poem
before the race begins
smoking cigars
placing our bets
my life savings
too late for regrets.
adrenal pumps
as he takes the lead
tearing into the void
brushing off rumors
of using steroids
while vigorously
remaining lost
in the garage.
desperately scrapes
and claws
at the ground.
From the stands
his poor family
watches his
dreams slip away
while he furiously
remains under
the dresser.
of screams and dust
smoke and lust
engine thrust
evading disgrace
each determined
to hold their place.

I was wondering how this poem would go over :)
I guess you would have to know the original story and pop culture.
I'm guilty of taking a few creative liberties and deviating away from the original a bit.
