Into the Light – An Original Poem

The light beckons
pulling and tugging
distant and struggling
as I cowardly
lose the fight

My heart aches
yearning and burning
tossing and turning
as I journey
within the night

The shadows attack
grasping and clutching
shivers from touching
as I long for your
warming light
