Poetry - The Parting
A poem about a child's growth and how sad it can be.
Like the wind you were gone
How much time has passed
To see you play again, your smile
All the wishes I cannot have
As you would run down the hall
Your curly hair wildly bouncing
Your first dance, your fall
These little things I hold on to
How selfhood begins with a walking away
Watching you grow, my worst parting
And as a winged seed would,
you loosened from the "parent" stem
