GREED (Poetic Series: Seven Deadly Sins)

in #poetry7 years ago

GREED

Opulence with a side of fanciful decor
Prestige follows your name
Yet commoners are mere cattle
To be taxed and oppressed until poor

One nation is not enough
Conquest and death you spread
Taking more and more by the sword
Slaughtering sons and brothers just to show you are tough

Your greed for power and riches
Transcends the comprehension of those good souls
Crying in agony beneath the heel of your boot
As you hide behind authority that money buys - cowardly bitches

Brilliant and ironic as I was just speaking to my son about the seven deadly sins yesterday and how today greed seems to be rampant in our society. So many people are not gratiful for what they've got. Keep sharing.

Thank you... :)
