Are We Alone?

What is beyond?

The stars so bright

Moons anchored to planets

In galaxies of light

Are we alone?

Marooned on paradise oasis

In a universe devoid of life

Ready to embrace us

What of the planets like our own?

Lifeforms milling about

With aspirations of achieving contact

Like distant neighbors sought out

Will they be rooted in peace and love?

Lifting each other up to greater heights

Wanting harmony and prosperity

Looking up at the stars endless nights

Will we ever meet them?

Ask them what they do for fun

Hearing their stories and jokes

Taking turns sharing one by one

So are we alone?

We may never know the answer

However simply asking the question

Raises the possibilities of grandeur

Every discovery so profound

Began with a simple thought

A question was asked

Which lead to more than was ever sought
