Cold Night

And with a roar of thunder

The earth rang like drums to match the storm-winds.

It struck the sun with an iron claw, and burned it dimly into dust.

It struck its shadow with a bolt

That cut a wide swath and covered the night.

When the dust settled, the star-maw lay dormant.

That shine like stars in the dark, and shine

Has gone down to sleep, and that when the earth

Is in cold winter, and there may be no sunlight
