Sins of the father
Mother:
When you quit my old home
leave me the shed
the one that is full
emptying skin, hair and tears
scales, layers and fears
that cling in the dark
like cobwebs across my face
the creak of the pump handle will stay
the cold draught from the cellar is vivid
the smell of the central heating
on a winter evening will always be
the grip on bare skin of vinyl upholstery
leave me the shed
not to keep
I want to let go
the heavy things I can not carry
I'll drag to a hole and bury
or leave to rot in the rain
all those remains
the merciless black sisters' chalk stains
the sins of the father
I am destined to replay
day after day after day
