The Ballad of Ezra Dee
Original poetry by @eyedreemit
Along a rocky Pacific shore
Ezra Dee tucks half his tentacles
making limbs of the other four
with ancient powers magical
An unsuspecting navy chief
never knew what hit him
Ezra leapt from underneath,
transformed, and soon was smitten
By a Sicilian gal with hair so black
and eyes of lost religion
The chief reborn, promised all she lacked
and convinced her to go with him
The needs she had were mouths to feed
in fact there were four
Demands he made, but she agreed
for a stable life on the shore
Ezra Dee was a tortured soul
with rules that must be followed,
a commanding chief in firm control
with pride not to be swallowed
One, two, three, four
If you’re late I’ll lock the door
Five, six, seven, eight
She tried to protect them from the hate
The tentacles of truth appeared
though she could not believe it
She tried to hide all that she feared
but had no time to grieve it
Ezra Dee was drying up
despite his will to dominate
His limbs unfurled, he dropped his cup
revealing arms of eight
With a defiant scream she locked the door
protecting innocent children
With brutal force she hit the floor
yet rose with strength within
One, two, three, four
It’s too late, I’ve locked the door
Five, six, seven, eight
The sheriff’s car is at the gate
Though Ezra’s limbs outnumbered hers
she fought thirty-two to one
Because when urgent need occurs
bared teeth out-do a gun
A bite to the neck felled Ezra Dee
and limp his tentacles lay
The victor proud, the Sicilian She
respected to this day
One, two, three, four
She gives them love, needs nothing more
Five, six, seven, eight
Ezra Dee, you’ve met your fate

That's not a low effort poem by any means, that's actually a good piece of poetry.
That is a rare thing here in Steemit, most "poets" just do low effort Haikus.
Cheers!
Thank you for recognizing my effort, @spiritualmax The inspiration for the poem is quite meaningful to me.
You took me on a whimsical adventure the stanzas flowed like a song at sea. I loved it. @eyedreemit.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it @rensoul17!
