The Devil Came Wearing Silk

The devil came wearing silk.
His suit; pure black as night.
His eyes of fire passion bright,
And his words smooth as milk.

The devil came wearing youth.
A child's voice on his tongue,
Yet eloquent prose he spun-
Luring beneath his noose.

The devil came wearing gold
Rings upon his bronze hand.
Left bloody footprints in the sand.
Warm hearts now grow cold.

The devil came wearing grace.
Holy words he spoke.
His pockets filled then broke,
A kind, deceitful embrace.
