Walking Down The Dirt Road !!!
This is a delicate morning
I feel the staleness in the air
The tepid breeze flowing coarsely
The symphony of sounds
Heralding the new dawn
The medley of odours
From many littered garbage
I love to take a walk
Down the dirt road
Bumpy and dusty
They say it is a 'slum'
Some call it the 'ghetto'
This is a place of treasures
A place to deeply hold dear
Down the dirt road is home
Dirty tiny shacks
Grime ingrained creamy walls
Hearts stained with bruises
Of the hungry and the dying
Children living in a dream
Hearing only far away whispers
Of a better and superior life
Does anyone listen
To the songs of the slums?
To the languages of inequality
In the cold and dark walkways?
Does it ring a rhetorical bell?
This metaphor for deprivation?
This breathing that struggles?
I pray that hope comes
From across the borders
For the street mugged down
In mud and dirt
I breathe the noisy and chaotic air
As I take a walk down home
For this is home, my sweet home
Where my heart will ever reside
