Griefs never quite healed
Restrained feelings
Suppressed emotions
Life is not a trifle
But has perfected
The art of miseries
And inflicted anguish
In its wake
We live in the shell
Of our masks
A secret life, A secret you
Numbing the pain we deeply feel
Living a lie to hide our hurts
Beneath the mask
We make a home
Beneath the mask
All is again okay
Life's high-ways not to be whiffled
Pain and pretence, two of a kind
Masked faces, Marred faces
Cries from tortured souls
From bleeding hearts
Aches inside, illusions out-side
Brave enough we hide our hurts
Wanting to stop the aching
So we can cease the paining
Beneath the mask
We conceal ourselves
Beneath the mask
We find our succour
Masking lies in the Be-holding
What you see, you get
A masked face, a face-less pain
A heart torn but smiling still
Em-battled emotions
Gripping stories
Stiffled secrets
Memories gone blue
Can we escape the hurt?
Can the mirror tell
A story so different
Beyond the smiling face?
Beneath the mask
We hide deeper wounds
But beneath the mask
We find fleety happiness
