A Song for Willow, my daughter
You always greet the world with
Your generous smile
There’s a song in your heart
That none can defile
Collecting all the pieces
And putting them in time
Is the work of a dented artist
Oh, sweet child of mine
The way you point your toes
And tidy up your hair
Your uproarious laugh with
Chocolate from ear to ear
Your tender touch to a soul
Who’s feeling lost in fear
Collecting all the pieces
And putting them in time
Is the work of a dented artist
Oh, sweet child of mine
Gazing past some aperture and
Into what will be
There’s fantasy in your life and it
Just means the world to me
Mapping out the future with the
Neatness of position one
The spirits and the notions of
The fables of when we’re young
Hold onto your naïve spirit, Dear
The brand which stands you out
When others hear your essence
All will stand and shout
When pain and hate and bigotry
Arrive like a wounded herd
Be sure to smile with Willowness
And let their shame be met
Collecting all the pieces
And putting them in time
Is the work of a dented artist
Oh, sweet child of mine
There’s none so pure as purity
Your heart sings a song of clarity
Your smile of serendipity
Assures they’ll all forget
Speak out your wondrous voice of love
Too bold to keep it “mum”
There are caverns in the souls of many;
Most think of it humdrum
Count out the world’s rich blessings
Most think of them too few
But there’s one factor they all forgot
They factored not in you!
Go tell all the captain’s troop
It’s time to saddle up
Willow’s on her favourite steed
Frail fortune in her cup
Collecting all the pieces
And putting them in time
Is the work of a dented artist
Oh, sweet child of mine
This is you my Darling girl
Few can dare so bold
Dare to even dream these things
At only seven years old
You are my darling daughter , Dear
Of this I am so proud
It’s time to tell the world of this
Again, I’m just so proud

I wrote this a few years ago and like all fathers, I love my Willow to bursting point.
She is just incredible and more than I can put into words.
It's beautiful :)
Thank you ... she is! In more ways than several. I know I am biased but ... you get it, I am sure. I am reticent to ask but please resteem if you feel it worthy!
Beautiful little one you got there...
I have a little girl now at 10months, and she is just perfect. Kids have grown on me since I had mine, crazy how that happens.
Thank you, I very much appreciate your kind words @generation.easy - you are in a wonderful phase when communication begins to open up. She will be aware by now of her individuality and you will need that to cope with the results of more substantial food ... it is a wonderful privilege and experience of being very much alive!
Yeah, I cherish every moment. She changes every day...
"cope with the results of more substantial food"
I assume your referencing the diaper situation?? eh, I'm not sure if it could get any worse ;)
Oh yes it can ... and it will, my friend. It will! I have some memories which will make your eye balls swivel. Thank goodness for the compensatory delights!
Hey, I really felt you deserved something for this post, so I went over to chat and mentioned it. There isn't any guaruntees, but hopefully you get something.
Oh, and I noticed. Try to only blog 4x within 24hrs, otherwise you get payout penalties. Which sucks because if this one gets a payout, you will get penalized. I followed you too, have a great thanksgiving!
Much Thanks! I very much appreciate the sentiments expressed. I had no idea that you get penalised ... am astounded
