RE: Keeping Freedom Safe

in #poetry8 years ago

What a beautiful and tragic recognition. Safe in it's tower, surrounded by defenses that make it unassailable, freedom's support and foundation rests on those who work til fatigued keeping it safe, only to find it sleeping, rather than providing for those who may need it most. A sad state where it's not that there isn't freedom for all, but even more painful that freedom has been secured, but locked up safe where it is not soaring in the lives of many. Wow. Touching and rattling as always.

I love that you can so readily provide the words for what I'm thinking. That may sound strange, but these ideas get locked in my head as images and come out through writing in a way that can easily be lost if I tried to speak. I feel like you are a translator. :)

You honour me too much. I just get feelings as I read your pictures. Often I am afraid to comment because my goal is never to usurp your meaning from your art, but rather to express the emotions and meanings your art evokes in me. However, even if that is the goal of art, we are surely able to admit that our home, whether creating or consuming, is to connect with the emotions of author/observer
