THE PAINTER AND SCIENTIST

Pulling paint
scraping the canvas
tension
pressure
just enough to
reveal true beauty
to some

Others
see the surface
not the layers
underneath
each colour
an emotion
born into light

Each catching
their first breath
looking back at
inquisitive eyes
belonging to faces
prepped to turn away

Science fears
the feelings
abstraction
connotes
preferring to
close its mind
to possibility

The eternal
searching
and futile
lab work
the constant struggle
to make sense of
nonsense

The paint stricken
lab coat curls
like lit paper corners
at the thought
of being
unsanitary
unsterile

The painter and scientist
canvas and coat
equals only by
the mess
they leave
behind

Thank you @vanemilano, I have always been torn between the rigid scientific mind and the creative soul.

The scientist has to be creative enough to think outside the box but rigid enough to formulate answers to problems. The painter needs to be rigid enough to put his creations in to an art form.

Very true and prophetic as usual @cecicastor. I would take your class!

It's called life! Just need to be a keen observer and a bit empathic...

Great advice on this sunny Friday afternoon!
