Doubt
DOUBT
Walking
a different path
legs heavy
carving a scar
as you inch
forward
in trepidation
Eye lids falling
struggling to find
focus
between snapshots
of life
and sound
Dreams fading
being pushed away
like the wake
of a boat
that splits
your mood
The engine
pumping
churning
cranking
metal on metal
bone on bone
without the mental oil
to prevent ceasing
In the end
we wonder
if there is
a finish line
only to find
an exit sign
