Why Do The Angels

Why do the angels weep and moan?
Why wouldn’t they?
They look down on a world so full of hate,
A world whose only cry is “God, What About Me?!”
They gag in disgust as we save the trees,
But kill the innocent in our greed.

They cringe at the sight,
Of a child being killed tonight,
Because a mother couldn’t see,
What a miracle this terrible baby would be.
“He’ll be a living nightmare!” she says,
But was it his fault she was forced into bed?

And this is the night angels grieve,
For a teenager who starts to bleed,
Because he couldn’t see the beauty behind the word “freak” .
But I wonder what he could accomplish,
If just once someone fulfilled their promise.

He and the angels weep together,
For a whole community torn in tatters,
As they cry for two lost brothers.

The angels cry out in anger,
As an unborn daughter loses her father,
Because he couldn’t stay faithful to her mother.

Now, what reason do the angels have to rejoice?
It’s the sounding of just one voice,
It whispers at first,
One day you’ll regret not seeing his face,
This child is a memory you won’t want to erase!
And you are more than what they say,
You are perfect; don’t throw your life away!

The whispers rise with outstretched arms,
I know you’re hurting and don’t understand,
But have faith my children, you’ll see them again.
And hold on, it yells through the pain,
I know he left you and you feel you’re to blame.
But I am your Father,
He doesn’t even deserve to know your name!
You’re precious to me,
Just have faith,
And hear me say, Believe I can save!

This is why the angels dance tonight,
Because tonight thousands of trees have died,
But innocence was reclaimed in millions of lives.
The world was brought to its knees tonight,
Because tonight the Lord came back for his bride,
And as his glory filled the sky,
Evil was banished and sentenced to die.
I just hope He didn’t catch you by surprise.

Are you ready?
Pick a side.
You don’t want to be found guilty,
When your King chooses who will die.
