Heroes of America

You walk out into the battlefield,
Your courage strong,
Bravery your shield.
You've said the words and taken the oath,
To protect your conrads,
Serve your country,
And to die for both.
Now you've made it,
You're finally home!
You rush into open arms,
The cries of joy like sounding alarms.

You lay down at night and secretly weep.
For the sons and daughters mothers couldn't keep.
For those returned in cold dark boxes.
America remembers them today and always.
