Romeo and Juliet Soliloquy

in #poetry7 years ago

Hey! Haven't really ever posted in poetry before, but I felt like sharing something tonight. In freshman year, I was tasked with creating a small twenty line soliloquy all in iambic pentameter. Hope you enjoy!

Oh you sweet heart, do what men’s minds cannot,
Heal and correct what work of this feud's fraught.
To lie in these wistful shades full of green,
Without my one love paints an awry scene.
Old fire trickled down to yet younger flame,
The crippled rose who defends they did blame.
Bad blood runs deep in feudal enemies,
Deep stricken pride to claimant verities
. Harken Verona, the prince it speaks from,
Civil men bring forth their committing drums.
Beat for the beat of another morrow,
Where two star crossed lovers share their sorrow.
Here I am in the winter days of dusk,
The end is now near on this settling dust.
I shall meet Juliet in life or death,
My acts hasty with it’s lingering breath.
Trepidation of fate enacts my fear
,The final encounter with her draws near
.In these forlorn times for her I go on,
Against dying light I make a new dawn.
