Playing with Fire

I awoke to light,
In the dark.
I closed my eyes,
And saw clearly.
I reached into space,
And found you.
I looked into your eyes,
And saw myself.
I kissed your lips, and
Found sweetness.
In a blustering chill,
I embraced your warmth.
At the end of a bitter past
Gleams beauty, and hope.
Jericho's walls crumble
At the whisper of desire;
Like a skylark, I
Sang, flew above the
Earth, found a freedom
In isolation, but a
Hurricane seized me, flung
Me spiralling, made my
Song a cry, my flight a
Fall, and my freedom a
Torment of howling winds,
Until I broke into captivity,
Found myself bound tightly
In your arms,
Desiring, if anything, to be
Held tighter, to go nowhere;
And you threw me tumbling
From dizzying heights-
Together.
