If I Must Die - [An Original Poem]
Swear I saw an eagle yesterday on a hike at the Assunpink Wildlife Mangement Area, and today there were about a dozen turkey buzzards riding the thermals way up above my house.
If I must die and its purpose is good
I hope that it happens way out in the wood
Far from the smell of the city’s bad breath
High on a hill near a bald eagle’s nest
And just as the sun finally falls from the sky
Then, like the eagle, so shall I fly ...
