Excited and New (Original)

I am excited and new
To write things that are true
To share some of my moments
with all of you.

Born here in Africa
Where the earth's blood is rich,
when the skies fill with thunder
I stand here bewitched.

At sunset in the Winter
The heavens are on fire.
The birds migrate homewards
on the winds of a choir

I am happy at my small warm hearth
where home holds my love and my heart.
The scenes I remember since I was a child,
comfort me and my life it has styled.

Will I ever leave these ancient shores?
Pack my bags and guess what's in store?
I'd rather play the waiting game,
to see if my loved ones feel the same.
