TRUE POEM - STILL BORN
STILL BORN
A jungle we call life,
Lurking with predators and preys.
A ground many fear to tread.
Ask alpha and you would be shocked,
That not every angel yearns this planet.
Though beautiful from above,
Yet full of treachery and hate.
Only, the really bold and fearless,
Dare step forward, to defy the odds.
Whether years, months, weeks;
Even days, legacies are founded on how wells.
One; is what was left behind,
That fateful day in that hospital room.
For through thick and thin,
Through contrary forces acing their advance,
My mother's daughter was still born.
She did not care that her time was
limited;
Or that her departure would break many hearts,
Especially that of mum and dad.
If she did care, then what sparked her emergence?
Soon I realise an important lesson needed teaching,
A message carried by distinct angels like herself.
It wasn't pleasant, but love made it possible:)
I learnt of perseverance, love and necessities,
We saw faith and how to prove them wrong:
Those who said it wasn't possible.
This family was greatly touched,
By the benevolence of a daughter:
Who left us better off than before.
I think the greatest member of our family,
Is the one who had no name.
The one who lasted the shortest ,
But lived on the longest.
The baby girl who said she'd come,
Despite the inevitable death awaiting.
She pressed on to accomplish her goal.
Within minutes of her arrival,
She taught us to never give up.
The doctors say she was a stillborn,
But we say she was still born.
Lesson well taught; lesson well learnt,
A victory in disguise, she was,
And we did well to identify it-
-That though stillborn, my sister (my mothers daughter), was still born
Original poem by me @bwoy-idea, spurred by a real event in 2007 when I lost a sister on the very day she was born. That's how I look at it now: she was still born :)
