Yes, there is indeed great contrast before light and dark.
The Lord himself said,
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. Deut 30:19"
He puts before us light and dark, let us choose light and life that we might live.
