Days when all we could think about was going to school from 8 am to 4 pm
When the sound of the school bell gives us goosebumps
Days when assignments and teachers were the only issues we had in life
When we didn’t have to do much to be the coolest kid in class
Days when we thought it was easy to be a doctor, engineer or lawyer
When BODMAS could solve any mathematical problem
Days when we played in parks and had many playground games
When we had nicknames and had more physical conversation with friends and family
Do you remember?
Do you remember the days when we had more friends than enemies?
When we did not have to categorize friends into different levels
Days when there were more laughter than tears
When the only time tears came was when we were physically punished
Days when we wanted to be superheroes

When those stories made life seem easy and interesting
Days when malaria was the only disease we had to worry about
When you did not have to worry about human contact
Days when we did not care about the economy
When all we worried about was how our monthly allowance will increase

I remember those days
But times have changed
Every time I say “Things are not the same as before”
As we grow, we get more responsibilities
We become more conscious of our goals
Dreams of being a doctor, engineer, or lawyer gets shattered
We begin to notice other lucrative professions
Friendship becomes more about career and business connections
Sometimes I wish those days could come back
Each time I get that nostalgic feeling
I reminisce on the past
