[Poem - With Audio] Sunrise
The night receded quietly, into approaching dawn,
And darkness waned, as brightening, the morning sun arose.
A golden crescent ripening, into majestic fullness,
She rose upon the pillars of the world.
Robes of regal orange-red, fell cloud-like from her shoulders,
And she graced the limned horizon with her crown.
And all nature sang with gladness at the grandeur of her rising,
As the halo'd sun ascended to her throne.
She filled all the morning sky with the brightness of her coming,
And from her visage darkness fled away.
Her smile did greet the infant, Day, the newborn child of dawn,
And from her lips an early blessing came.
Her warmth and light embraced the world, and quickened it to life,
As she bestowed upon the waking earth, the tender kiss of morning.
Note: I've been encouraged by some of the feedback I've gotten, so my plan is to continue re-posting poems from the last several months, but now including an audio clip going forward. I'll also be sprinkling in some new (or at least previously unpublished) poems here and there.
