RE: Decolonising Rudyard Kipling & Cecil John Rhodes // an original poem by an African

in #poetry6 years ago (edited)

'Sadly, we have no-sooner removed one thug then we place a more sophisticated one in his place.' It seems the case everywhere... in some places more obvious than others.

Thank you for this powerful poem, and the history lesson. These lines especially resonated for me:
'Fall decks Creation's slate for long cold sleep
Lie youthful dreams beneath, Spring fruit to reap'

The tragedy of all that has been put to sleep so the vampires could have their feast...

I am always glad to read your interpretation and comments. Vampires, indeed. They're a sad bunch, because they live outside of themselves, alienated I believe. Though they live in luxury, they are hardly free.

The dormant dreams, seeds under Winter's snow
are sometimes the happier ones for being left alone.
