I Asked Time (Poem)

I TOLD TIME

I asked time
To give me moments back

He said he couldn't
And to sift through the recollections
Through the pages of memory
And the heartbeats
Where everything that is
Stays indelible.

I told time
That I have words to erase
Pain to tear away
Instants to relive
Forgotten embraces
A kiss to give.

Time answered
That in time
Everything can still happen
And that with the present
You can rewrite the past
Sometimes nicer
Sometimes uglier
But nothing is regretted
Until even just one grain of time
Will give us another chance
To tell, to relive,
To hope.
