Life + Time

It was running,
running so fast it almost flew.
Some could only watch
hoping to catch it.

There are those who tried
and so they ran.
They ran, they crawled, they jumped and bumped
trying to chase it, wanting to beat it.

Tired they have become,
for it doesn’t slow down.
It was relentless and unforgiving,
waiting for no one and stopping for nothing.

They stop for a water break
before it breaks them.
Then it hit them,
it wasn’t a race they could win.

They sit on the sidelines,
watching, listening, observing.
They soon realize,
it wasn’t a race after all.

Life was a vehicle,
running on the wheels of time.
You don’t chase it,
you ride it, or you’ll miss the fun.
