Here the old acquaintance got a little confused - the engineers really have categories, and usually it is increased by the length of service, after three years of work, in stages from the third to the first category.

The highest category (leading or chief engineer) can be obtained by leading a large team for the successful performance of a particular work.

I went through all these stages to the deputy director of the enterprise for the production, energy supply and complex mechanization of installation works.

ELECTRICITY TROUBLES

I will explain the meaning of these groups.

Any group - from the first to the fifth - means the level of complexity of the work that can be entrusted to the employee in electrical installations or in general to allow the operation of appliances connected with electricity.

Group 1 is assigned to all employees who do not have any relation to the electrician, but who use electrical appliances.

This seamstress with an electric machine, a cleaner with a vacuum cleaner, a computer programmer, a loader in a store with a freight elevator and a light bulb in the warehouse, etc.

All of them should be aware of the danger of electric current and be able to provide first aid in case of electric shock.
Group 1 is assigned after interview, answers to control questions. Such procedures are handled by the person in charge of the company's electrical facilities.

The most common is group 3.
It includes persons who successfully passed the certification in the department of technical supervision or a special commission of the enterprise. Such specialists have the right to independently inspect and connect electrical installations up to 1000 Volts. In production - it's 380 volts.

To obtain a tolerance for group 4, you need a higher or secondary electrotechnical education, work experience for the third group in one place for at least two months and passed examinations in the technical supervision department. For technicians, the experience for group 3 is at least six months.
Here the interview does not pass and the exams must be passed not to their managers, but only to specialists in technical supervision.
An employee with a qualification in group 4 should be able to read the diagrams, organize repair work in electrical installations and participate in them. Such an expert should be aware of fire safety in electrical installations and conduct training and instructing employees of 1-3 groups.

Specialist of Group 5 performs the duties of the responsible for the electric power plant of the enterprise and is fully responsible for the work and repairs in electrical installations. Must know everything about the location of electric power objects, their loads, wiring diagrams, emergency power systems. And also take care of the use of protective equipment for TB (safety), their storage and the timing of the test.
Most often such a specialist is appointed by the chairman of the attestation commission at the enterprise.
