How can I keep a secret
That's eating me away?
That's blinding my vision
more than I would like to say.
Fearful, I've gone mad
But I say that every time
Which is why I stand here terrified.
My gut turns into knots
With an anxious breath.
Eyes meet mine
And tell me to rest.
I let go of the wheel
Hands blistered from the burn
The past holds an era
Of so many lessons learned.
I will not grip tight -
I do not wish to drown.
If this is to be
This demon cannot be unbound.
Keep tight the rope
To remind me of the pain
Since letting go of the past
Is the only way to stay sane
