Illusions of Accomplishment (What's the point of getting rich?)
Illusions of Accomplishment
Wealth - A sign of success
Security it will bring
Along with promises of freedom
A prospect so sweet
Like the morning song that blue birds sing
Money can't buy me love
But it can buy breathing room
Options
Choices
To do whatever I want - I can only assume
Riches alone glitter like a mirage
What good is wealth without purposeful meaning
A noble reason for its existence
Beyond the simple and selfish pleasures
We indulge in ourselves so demeaning
Real accomplishment is shared
With other souls in need of compassion
Those who haven't succeeded
What better gift to ourselves
Than to spread joy through giving rather than ration
