In synagogue and cloister, mosque and school,
Hell's terrors and heaven's lures men's bosoms rule,
But they who master Allah's mysteries,
Sow not this empty chad their hearts to fool.
در صومعه و مدرسه و دير و كنشت
ترسنده دوزخند و جوياى بهشت
وانكس كه ز اسرار خدا باخبر است
زين تخم در اندرون دل هيچ نكشت

Omar Khayyám, was a Persian polymath, scholar, mathematician, astronomer, philosopher, and poet, widely considered to be one of the most influential thinkers of the Middle Ages. He also wrote numerous treatises on mechanics, geography, mineralogy, astronomy and music.
