Poetry: My Most Prized Possession.

Neither the fondness of your appearance,
Your lips alluring as the Night sky
Laddened with gorgeous bright Stars,
Nor the Grace of your body, still concealed,
Reserved, puzzling and trusting,
Nor what draws near to me
Of your Being, resolving in words
or sullenness,
Will ever be so exalted a bestowal
As the sight of your sleep, enclosed
In the watch of my arms.
Innocent you are, miraculously,
By the enchanting virtue of sleep,
Peaceful and radiant like a charm reclaimed by memory,
You'll bestow upon me that filament of your breath
Which even you yourself never owned.
Then I shall behold that surpassing utter of your being
And I shall glare at you for the first time,
Perhaps, as God do see you—
The myth of Time destroyed,
Tossed off into silence
Free from anxiety, from despair.
