A Viking poem - A steemit original

This is my second published poem on steemit, an original based one of the most important battle in Viking's history.

The requiem of Svolder

Drifting apart slowly,
The dragon in the mist,
With eyes were all teary,
And shaky bow in his wrist,
Of brotherly love and liturgical gist,
He steadied his aim so the arrow wouldn’t miss.

Of Scandinavian sky and murky water,
Of plunging dragons and red-riding brothers,
They stormed the sea in great numbers,
Sending ripples and chills for their enemy to falter.

As the dust settled and the foe mottled,
Gospel reigned supreme in the Battle of Svolder,
The Cross waved high in the Baltic,
War cry were sang as they showed their antics.

Dragons floated,
His brothers bloated,
His heart throated,
Knees were weak,
But he remained footed,
He stumbled backward as he embraced,
A familiar shadow on the surface,
The eyes that looked up lifeless, the eyes of his twin below.

As the dragon continued drifting to the centre,
Carrying his twin to the darkest water,
The fire had now dried his tear,
It was time he let go of the blazing arrow,
Sending the dragon down in pyre,
To a place where someday we must go.
