Twisted Blessing- Poems from The Captain's Chair- The U.S.S. MinnowPROSE!

in #poem6 years ago

In this town, there is no clown.
Everyone walks about wearing a frown.
Eyes cast down upon the ground.
Never to peep, not make a sound.

You came into town preaching the word.
Take your place or meet the sword.
Once again will the innocent be slain.
Let each soul scream in vain.

In this place things are stark.
It's time to go out on a lark.
To dance between fire and blade.
Will be my finest serenade.

The flickering fire shall be my shield.
As each of these invading fools yield.
For this is my home, my castle, my church.
So off that cliff you can go and lurch.

Crazed old men sermonizing off a book.
When demons are everywhere you look.
Clawing through door and lock.
In your face they sneer and mock.

Kneel before them if you will.
But my knife hand they will not still.
To cut each one till nothing left.
Keep hand moving nice and deft.

Within a mirror of steel we thrust and advance.
Spreading our message with each step of the dance.
Each priest land burnished upon the sand.
Bloated with the touch of deaths loving hand.

I can feel the heaviness of this poem @sammosk you are a very good poet.

Wow, that was a lot to take in. A lot of emotions. I’ll definitely have to read this a few more times.
