Self Delusion - original poem

The destruction of our planet
is too depressing for conversation
we want our spirits lifted
we want our self delusions
we want our communal
Netflix diffusions
like a blood transfusion
to payoff our amusements
our reality substitutions
for our mental confusions

we want to prevent pollution
with an off-the-shelf solution
we want foregone conclusions
without the Malthusian attributions

being human has so far proven
to be an abundant profusion
our institutions a collusion
to an exclusionary absolution
an example of unproven evolution
from caveman to civilization

our self attributes
our contribution
our Tower of Babel hallucination

my direct allusion
to our shared delusion
that there’s even a solution
to the destruction of our planet
or the deeper fear we fear
a more general writ of execution

we could reject this corrosion
this broken correlation
create an explosion
choose to put in motion
a spoken open communication
to the approaching dislocation
Armageddon-type commotion
a spiritual awakening
our emotions unfrozen
