POEM: WINGS
they gathered in roots
clay and sand
to breach the skin of
her pores. and fan the
seed engulfed with
a solar robe.
clothed with what
it had not yet known
but its ancestors knew
and gave an inheritance
of life and breath. it only
needed to resist every
sinking sentiment
to pull its stems through
the sky robe with clouds
crowing the floral fjord passed
by bees seizing indigo inlets
in royal veins
i sit and watch wings wish
for nectar again
