POEM: CAMP & SAND

Hair in the wind
Feet in the sand
A grainy conversation
Catches a gust
The gist holds love
And bears the pain
Anchors remain
As they must
Our anchors are footholds
For the future
To grow the waves of
Undulating adulthood
With highs and lows
What comes and goes
Smooths the spirit
Set in driftwood

Do everything you can
Pry open your chest
Invite strangers to camp,
Little voyager
You do not know
The depths of the river
Coming from them
And flowing to you
'The spirit set in driftwood' is an enchanting image. Reminding me a little Yeats' line on the soul, 'fastened to a dying animal, it knows not what it is'. Hopefully it doesn't end up on the fire with the rest of the tinder!
'Coming from them / and flowing to you' concludes the sentiment perfectly also. Karma, conversation, love - it's a two way street...
They are really beautiful words .
