As we sat eating, I knew I would never see you again
Valentines days seemed an auspicious day to leave
A memorable day

I was hoping you would have stayed longer, but no
You couldn’t, and so nor could I

We stood on the steps and I hugged you for the last time

Watching you walk away for the last time, you didn’t know
I don’t think you cared

You phoned a couple of times
I ignored it
And that was the end

We gave each other presents that valentines day
You were surprised by yours
