Choices

Needing to flee evil’s grasp
and when given freedom
from all that’s destroying us,
to live, fearing nothing.

The promise was made
that it would happen,
and the plan completed
that made it possible.

Humanity suspected the motive,
diluted the message,
believed too little,
and doubted too much.

Yet in the vastness
awaits the Living God
never weakened
by our disbelief.

Encouraging us to try,
accepting our contrition,
leading us on
one anxious soul at a time.

Still most continue seeking outside
answers only whispered deep within
Masks still in place thru the years
we chose to sleepwalk thru our lives.

Not aware that our souls contain
the address we’re all seeking
and the directions
we are too distracted to find.

Our slumber brings no rest,
even the few of us fully awake,
are just repeating what’s familiar,
ignoring signals from our souls.

From one gratification to another,
we find less enthusiasm with each,
until life’s seasoning turns so bitter
that disappointment is all we taste.

It’s then we search for what we rejected,
selecting what’s honest, decent, and real.
Hoping it’s not too late to find the way,
back onto the road where truth lives.

Once there, we the spiritually transformed,
will move from density toward light,
choosing the path from peril to peace,
identified forever as the children of God.
