Have You Forgotten

Have you forgotten
The graves of your past regrets
Those that enslaved
Your thoughts
The ones that never let you rest

Do you still search
The places others have forgotten
Roads best left abandoned

Are you tempted
To dig into the past
To recarve time-worn grave markers
You know a reason those don't last

Then go alone, venture off
You certainly know the way
Maybe you'll find peace there
amongst the bones
of those who dwelled where you are now
Those filled with regret never die alone.

I'm not completely happy with the way this poem came out but I decided to post it anyway. having it out of my mind will allow for better writing later on. - Enjoy
