Captivity
Flightless bird,
Clipped wings
broken feathers - You're in tethers.
Held by the world with constriction
It's a diabolical conviction - it was meant to be.
Yes, you wanted to be free.
Yet he held you there
Ensnared.
Ere you would leave and no longer would he
have control.
He would love you, kiss you
harshly.
Disastrously, ghastly - he would beat and kick and tear.
Arms around your neck - his affection
Your snare.
"I love you , I love you" he would cry
The bruises on your hips and arms,
evidence of your reply - there was none.
He was beastly
and you were an angel.
"Rescue me" he did plead
Restitution - you both did need.
Head resting on your chest
and all too soon - you were both a mess
of blood and tears
and deep, dark fears.
