The Pit

Feel the the pit. The pit, you see?
That's where the soul's supposed to be.

The place where darkness is at home.
That's where our demons love to roam.

It seems to have an infinite size.
That part of us we really despise.

We tell ourselves that there's a soul,
think it's from God and that it's his dole.

We think it'll live forever and ever.
We get on our knees, as we endeavor

to bend God's will, so it conforms
to our wants and needs...to our norms.
