GREENER TORTURES
What a waste of time !
A question keeps ringing on my mind
Do i wanna remain far behind?
I better decide.
After a rough journey of 6-3-3-4 system
I had no choice but to forget them.
The brown envelopes of the unemployed graduates has become their emblem
So who do we blame for our problems?
The country or the government?
Our youths or our parents?
Its no news that the one-time best students.
Now work in filling stations as fuel attendants.
Its no news that the 'rabbits' now move with the 'vultures' all in the name of greener pastures!
When will my home land become Canaan?
Rich resources are wasting every day in this land
I remember been told that books are meant to be read and not to be stared
Its disheartening seeing youths moving aimlessly in the streets like cattle ready to be reared.
The subjects of Luggard have failed at every junction
The national identity has always been tinctured
This is paroxysm! Paroxysm!! Paroxysm!!!
We keep falling victims of racism
Sweeping the streets of Europe
Bathing dead Adams
Trafficking drugs with no fear of the law
With no respect they hang us to death
Like boxers auctioned for sale.
That's why i say the test before the money
Is your testimony
Passing through the deserts of Libya
Ain't greener pastures!
Passing through the Meditarrean sea is greener tortures!
I see the smile evoked by the visa
Y'all are dancing like we're celebrating easter.
Remember that some are homeless and quiver in winter.
Wives threatening our men offshore
Because they're victims of greener tortures.
And our ladies work as whores.
All i've got is just one sentence
I REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM OF GREENER TORTURES.
The poem is a wake up call for the African youths to change their orientation about the so called OVER SEAS fever, most especially NIGERIANS .
