Christmas Play I'm directing
As I mentioned in my last posts and some responses, I have spent the last two and a half months doing rehearsals for a Christmas Play I am directing. It is my debut directorship. It's called " The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate's Townswomen"s Guild Dramatic Society's Production of A Christmas Carol"
It is a farce about five amateur actors trying to put on "The Christmas Carol" Play. As the reviews put it; "it is a celebration of bad acting and screwups." It's been a learning experience for me to say the least. That is one reason why I haven't posted as often as I should.
Anyway, I thought I would share some photos of the production as it progress from a barren stage into a very funny play.
Because of circumstances beyond my control we were forced to start rehearsals without scenes props or costumes.
In some scenes we used cardboard boxes and cutouts for props and scenes.
In other Scenes the cast stood on stage and read out of their scripts.
Eventually costumes started to come together.
In the back of the stage, we had assembled a giant 4' x 8' book for all the scenes in the play
Eventually the whole stage came together
We even had a spooky graveyard scene.
We finally got it all together and performed our first runs last weekend. this weekend will be our second and final run. So , if you're in Roswell NM, check us out.
