Great post! It seems few people who take themselves serious dare to say something nice about Pokémon. Babbling negative opinions and being cynical seem to be the easy way to deal with life, and then, when something genuinely nice comes along, it's not easy to appreciate.

Pokémon really is a great game, not only the Go version, but the classic adventure game, the tactics, the card game, the arena... you should try some of these also. I personally recommend Pokémon FireRed.

You failed to mention two things, though. The first thing is: which team did you pick? The second is: why on Earth didn't you pick Team Instinct?
