First bulb flower of the year - Netted Iris

I really like growing perennials, the kind of plant that comes back every year. I planted these Iris last fall, and seeing growth so soon is a great sign they are good bulbs. They are dwarfs, but still have amazing patterned flowers.

While searching for early blooming flowers this plant came up. It's called iris reticulata and will probably stay small throughout its lifecycle.

The deep blue petals along with bright yellow streaks really popped out. I noticed it last night. They are in some pots I had laying around.

I wonder if the flowers will last long enough for the solitary bees to check out. It's a few weeks before they should emerge. But good to see some flowers popping up in preparation for the emerging pollenators.

Its going to be pretty cold the next few days, hope the flower holds up. My Peach tree flowered and then got snowed on so not much hope for peaches this year.

Seeing North Georgia wake up is a sign of the changing seasons. Wild Daffodils are emerging all over my region. And that is a sign that we are moving into spring.

Hoping my other bulbs emerge too, I'm expecting my Crocus, Solomans seal and false Solomans seal to emerge. They did not come up last year so hoping to see them this year. It's still quite early for most plants to flower. But at this point in late February more and more will start to bloom.
