The orchid that didn't die.
My dad bought this orchid for my wife about 10 years ago when she was pregnant with our youngest daughter. An odd gift as we arn't a pot plant household and my wife had never had any luck keeping plants in the past. So she put the plant on the kitchen windowsill and didn't expect it to last far beyond the bloom of flowers it was in when she got it.
Now when it comes to caring for an orchid she dosn't know anything, she waters it when she remembers, maybe one every week to ten days and just leaves it to do its own thing, she's never even repotted it or given it plant food. It gets maybe an hours direct sunlight each afternoon, as the you can see the house next door blocks most of the light into the kitchen.
Yet despite the odds for 10 years it has not only survived but flowers 2 to 3 times a year.
Good post. Amazing , if you had given the plant food it probably wouldn't have survived
Thank you and I think just leaving the plant to itself has been the best way to look after it.
