My raised gardens

I want to have raised garden a few years ago when was popular in our country. In that time we, my dad and I, made one with wood and there was a whole pile of earth that stay after raised garden was made, so we have a little hill of earth where we have a flowers, asparagus, lettuce and other stuff.


This photos was taken a few years ago and maybe this year will remove this hill.

But still stay raised garden made from wood. And here are some pictures how it made and what I have in it. OK, I have herbs and spices, so cool.

Firstly we decide what we want to do and made a plan. Then we cut wood and put together and put in the right place. Is T shape (look the picture) and is 50 cm (1.6 ft)x 50 cm (1.6 ft) the little square, this square is on the big rectangle 50 cm (1.6 ft) x 150 cm (5 ft), little rectangle is 50 cm (1.6 ft) x 100 cm (3.3 ft). Height is 15 cm (6 inch) or 20 cm (8 inch), but is too low.

Then put in newspaper that grass don't go through, but if you have moles you can put fence too, to prevent mole hols. On the newspaper put earth and compress it.

On the earth I put cow manure, you can use sticks and leaves or compost. On this you put another layer of earth to the edge. If you have like me two levels, you repeat with earth, manure and earth again. You must finish with earth.

When raised garden is finish you plant what you want. I plant different herbs, but only a few stay in our climate.

After a few years you have garden like this. Next to this place I have place to put bowls with plants who don't survive winter outside. And in back of the picture you can see another fast made raised garden for strawberries and more herbs.

We made this so simple. We use concrete parts and put it together in two line, put earth inside and plant plants.
