Nutmeg plant is now a separate power for the people of Aceh, In addition to South Aceh is well known as a granary nutmeg Provinci Aceh, people in North Aceh also began to be interested to make Nutmeg Plant as a new type of agricultural commodity crops other than Pinang, Cocoa, Rubber and Palm Oil.

Nutmeg plants can be aged up to hundreds of years, so no wonder if some people in North Aceh began to make a new commodity in this area. According to historical records of nutmeg plants (Myristica fragrans) comes from the island of Banda in Maluku the easternmost region of Indonesia. in Aceh previously only in southern Aceh this plant is fertile and became one source of local commodities residents.

Nutmeg plant has been known since the Roman era as the most important trading commodity at that time. Since the time of European exploration, nutmeg is widespread in other tropical regions such as Mauritius and the Caribbean (Grenada). The nutmeg plant can last for hundreds of years with a height of 20 meters. When ripe, skin and flesh open and seeds will look wrapped in a red mace. One fruit produces one brown seed.

This Nutmeg plant economically profitable, ranging from the flesh of nutmeg, seeds, and fuli (Red coat covering nutmeg seed) can be sold in the market. So very economical of this plant, almost nothing is wasted from this nutmeg fruit, all of which are economical. Usually nutmeg meat is sold for Rp. 5,000 per kilo to the buyer, while the seeds are sold for Rp. 35.000 perkilogram, which is very fantastic is the price of nutmeg fuli priced for Rp. 100,000 rupiah perkilogram.

Usually the meat of nutmeg is used as sweets or known as candied nutmeg and this is only found in south Aceh, while the seeds and fuli are often distilled into nutmeg oil, but also used as spices in Aceh. In terms of nutmeg oil prices can reach 2 to 2.5 million rupiah.

These plants include plants that are very difficult to grow in my area, because of the influence of soil mismatch factor, this is proven by 20 stems of nutmeg plants that I try to plant but only 3 stems of nutmeg that grow and have been fruitful in the period of 4 years more. Although only 3 stems of nutmeg trees that grow but the resulting fruit is fantastic, in terms of economical nutmeg plant is very remarkable, in addition to fairly easy taking care of plants, this plant is also long-lived.
